DO.

    • Stephen Gell All must be criticized for evolution to take place... If you can not criticize, there would be no need to evolve as all would be perfect. A bold move sir, i salute your courage sir. Taekwon!

    • Kwang Duk Chung As you know, Taekwon-do was like Tang Soo Do o Karate before times and, I talked with General long time ago in Argentina to promote the techniques realistic to adapt in the critical situation to defend or fight. Do you really think that the sign movement in TULS make sense of defend yourself in critical situation? Except to give the seminars each movements, why we do in sign movement? In this realistic dynamic movements has already three dimension of time and space including 4th dimension of CENTERING your balance and more likely with 5th dimension of CENTRALIZATION of your mind to control totally all the movements or techniques. DO.

    • Marvin Peláez Translation: Between 1950 to 1960, ITF Taekwon-Do was practice in a static manner like Tang Soo – Do, which was the Korean version of Karate. These movements were not dynamic. Between 1960 to 1970, we introduced the sine wave movement to improve our Taekwon-Do technique. The Sine wave movement made our techniques dynamic. Now, we in AITF, are applying REALISTIC movements to self-defense situations. These movements simulate REAL fighting with accelerated dynamic movements. The training involved helps increase your physical and mental capacity since it is very intense. (GGM Chung)

My comment: What we are doing in AITF is taking patterns training to the next level. Since Taekwon-Do was always meant to evolve, we are starting with the Tuls by making them more applicable to “critical situations,” which are essentially life and death defense situations. General Choi provided us with an excellent foundation in the patterns and taught them worldwide in “seminar style.” But patterns training was not meant to end there – it was a beginning. If Taekwon-do is a Martial Art, then it must evolve to stay relevant with the current times, otherwise it will end up like Judo, an Olympic Sport. Taekwon-Do is all ready considered to be a sport by many in the world, but was originally meant to be an original dynamic and evolving martial art. One of the hallmarks of AITF is to train, practice, and learn Taekwon-Do as an original martial art. Sin Chon- i Tul is one AITF efforts to demonstrate Taekwon-Do as an evolving martial as it was intended.

    • Stephen Gell As I said a bold move, I do not disagree with the intention. Though watching the videos I am not convinced by the outcome. This is purely an opinion but the forward motion on the punch does not, in my humble opinion translate into a self defence situation. After the block the opponent would be too close to execute this. My understanding is that the art and the application have always differed slightly in their execution and should be practiced as being two sides of the same coin. I do not wish this to be seen as a criticism as I believe all views are valid and all can be learned from, it is simply an opinion of what I have seen so far of this "new" point if view

    • Marvin Peláez Master Gell. Thank you for your comment. This is not a new point of view. A realistic application of the Tuls have been discussed by the original students (now GMs) and General Choi. It was a phase in the development of Taekwon-Do as martial art that had not been implemented yet. When General Choi passed away, the ITF world separated into different organizations. We in AITF are continuing what the original GMs began years ago under the leadership of GGM Kwang Duk Chung. Now ,the demonstrations are new. I just learned the Sin Chon-Ji Tul this morning, so we still have to work hard to perfect these movements. Concerning self-defense, you never know what will happen. All is unpredictable but a forward motion with the punch is not out of the question. In fact, it is very realistic. Again, thank you for your input. DO.

    • Kwang Duk Chung Based on my experience of real fighting, it is not the same time and distances are adequately good to strike or kick or punching. You must develop to ADJUST this times and distances in real situation. Of course, this dose not come alone without practic...Ver Más

    • Stephen Gell Sir, my opinion of seminar tul, hyung, poomse or palgwe are that they are the art. The styalized organisation of movement, technique and balance. I do not believe that all combinations lend themself to self defence, nor do individual movements, however...Ver Más

DO.

    - Yo hago "Los Tules nuevos".
    - ¿Cómo son?
    - Como los de antes, pero "nuevos", en "3D".

    Ok.
