#1 DUKW - II Guerra mundial
Prometí postearlo y lo posteo. Mientras estudiaba con The History Channel para no desconcentrarme empezaron a pasar un documental del auto-anfibio DUKW que actuó en la II World War. Como estaba estudiando y no quería me puse a mirarlo: se trata de un camión GM al qe se le agregó la carcaza y la mecánica que lo hace navegar. Van fotos y algunos datos, no conseguí casi nada de dato:
"This is me putting gas in the DUKW. It runs on regular gas, and
holds 40 gallons. Gas consumption is about 6 miles per gallon
on land and about 4 miles per gallon on the water." Considerando que un galón son casi 5 litros creo...

The DUKW is a large six wheel drive (6x6) amphibious landing craft. The arm, tube and rotating seal on the wheel hub carry air to the tyre and allow the driver to vary the tyre pressure on the move according to the circumstances. The dashboard has a dial indicating the correct tyre pressure for sand, coral and mud.
The DUKW is equipped with a GMC 270 cubic engine (91 hp) and a Clark un-synchronized five speed transmission.
Landspeed is 50 mph on water 6 mph.
