After more than a week of speculation, Salvador Larroca has confirmed for THE PULSE that his next assignment is Uncanny X-Men. Larroca told us he will be drawing – pencils only - fourteen issues of that title per year and an as yet undetermined Marvel miniseries. Inking Larroca on Uncanny will be Danny Miki.
Larroca is excited to get a chance to do his artistic take on the characters. “I’ve loved those characters and have been a fan of the book since I was a child,” he said. “Now I have the chance to do something that two years ago I never could have.”
Larroca was given the shot by Joe Quesada and the artist is very appreciative. “Joe Quesada knows how much I love the X-Men and it was so kind of him to offer them to me again. The
X-Men are a very important franchise known worldwide. The most important reason for me to work on them, though, is that this is something I really want and love to do.”
“I love all the X-Men,” continued Larroca, when asked of his favorites amongst the mutant mind set. “But of course, I love Wolverine a little more. I’m sure the minute I start to draw them, it will become impossible to say who is or isn’t a favorite. The same thing happened to me when I was working on X-Treme.”
Larroca is currently finishing up his run on Namor. He has two more issues to draw before jumping into the X-Men mindset. He’s looking forward to working on many adventures with the X-Men. “Something that can change the future of the series, I hope," yhe enthuses. "Now, seriously, I want to try something that will be memorable for readers!”
“Because the X-Men are a family. The X-Books are all about that … involved in each other’s stories – every single book is a part of a whole universe and all of them are connected. The things that happen in New and X-Treme X-Men will change Uncanny. And, if you want to know the whole picture of the X Universe, then you’ll have to read all the three core books!”
