#1 The Ultimates v3 - Nuevo equipo creativo-

    Saludos.-

    ultima noticia:

    CANADIAN NATIONAL COMIC EXPO:

C.B. Cebulski, standing in for Joe Quesada at the “Cup ‘O Joe” panel seemed to confirm that Jeph Loeb and Joe Madureria are the new team on the recently announced Ultimates v3. Cebulski was asked “What are Jeph/Joe doing?” and answered “See Wizard in four days”.

He was then asked “Who’s the next team on Ultimates?” and answered “See Wizard in four days,” and then added “I think you guys can put two and two together.”

    JEPH LOEB MOVES TO MARVEL
The DC writer heads to the House of Ideas to do Ultimates with Joe Madureira! PLUS: Exclusive first look at Joe Mad’s new art!

    Seguimos con los rumores :

WIZARD: LOEB & MAD ON ULTIMATES v3
Rumored since Chicago, perhaps teased too hard in Toronto, there appears to be confirmation of the next team on Marvel’s Ultimates title. And yes, the answer to question about the creative team is also connected to the pair of questions: “What will Jeph Loeb and Joe Madureira be doing at Marvel?”

As promised by Marvel at Chicago, the title of the Loeb/Mad project was being held for the issue of Wizard following the convention, and, at it’s site today, Wizard let the cat out of the bag, in an albeit minor way.

In their standard “What you need to know about Wizard 168” the company runs shortly prior to their issue going on sale, one of the teases for the issue reads:

    JEPH LOEB MOVES TO MARVEL
The DC writer heads to the House of Ideas to do Ultimates with Joe Madureira! PLUS: Exclusive first look at Joe Mad’s new art!

As Newsarama reported from Chicago, the rumor of Loeb and Madureira following in the footsteps of Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch was popping up on the floor throughout the weekend, though at the time, E-i-C Joe Quesada wouldn’t confirm a thing, only saying “”The Ultimates Vol. III and the announcement of the new creative team that will prove to be the biggest and most unexpected announcement in years.”

Which, arguably, is true. While the style and scope of Ultimates is something that Loeb has proved himself up to the challenge of tackling time and again, Madureira on pencils will represent a dramatic stylistic shift in artistic style for the series, far and away from the realistic (and occasionally Hollywood-inspired) pencils of Bryan Hitch.

During the series’ first run, and even into the early part of its second, conversation about creators taking the book after Millar and Hitch often ran towards seeing the book end when the creators left, rather than continuing, given the acclaimed work the two had done with the characters. Even Marvel, when the question was raised, often left the answer up in the air, though Millar, speaking to Newsarama last week said that Ultimates ending when he and Hitch left would be the worst scenario the two creators could imagine.

Millar said: “Honestly, our worst nightmare would have been the book finishing. All that work to end up a mini-series? No thanks. We put some solid foundations here on these character revamps and I couldn't be happier to see it continue. This book makes them more money than just about anything else out there. Add the fact that it's 2.99 too and you'll understand this was never a consideration. Not a chance. Nor would we have wanted it.”

Likewise, in speaking about the (then unnamed) new team, Millar added: “Bryan and I kind of gasped when we heard the team because it's not who you would expect. But that's brilliant because someone coming in and aping our style would have been depressing and out of date. This is a great, new direction from the book and an inspired choice on Marvel's part. I've got a huge amount of respect for the team and am looking forward to the book more than anyone. That said, I hope they aren't too good. Then I'll just be pissed off.”

Obviously, while shifting the controls of a popular franchise from one set of creators to another is a risk (with, in this case, the added factor of a stylistic art change), it’s not he first Millar has been art of. Arguably again, parallels could be drawn to The Authority changing hands from Warren Ellis and Bryan Hitch to Millar and Frank Quitely. At the time, fans had serious doubts of whether this, then relatively unknown Millar and a stylistically different artist could ever hope to match Ellis and Hitch’s landmark run on the series.

The pairing of the creators marks their first time working together again since a very brief two-issue stint on Uncanny X-Men (#329-330), co-written with Scott Lobdell in 1996.

Ultimates 2 should end later this year, or early next. Presumably, Ultimates v3 will show up in the second quarter of 2006.
