Entrevista a Chris Claremont
- http://www.digital-titan.co.uk/xav/claremont/index.htmCHRIS CLAREMONT EXCLUSIVE
This week we are pleased to bring you an exclusive interview with veteran X-Writer Chris Claremont, where he discusses, not one, not two, but three new X-Men titles that he will be working on. The first two series have already been mentioned at the NYCC X-Men panel. Chris Claremont's X-Future
This week we are bringing you the scoop on a third secret title, Queen Storm, which he already believes is one of his own personal highlights from his X-Men work.
His first project is a new limited series based on the winner of the Marvel.com poll asking fans what project theyd like to see Claremont write next. Then called neXt and described as following the adventures of today's generation of X-Men if the Marvel Universe aged in real-time!, the five-issue limited series is now called Genext.
CHRIS CLAREMONT: Genext is a great project that I'm pleased to be a part of. It explores what the X-Men would be like if the series had been happening in real time. Many of the characters will be familiar to readers, either from established child mutants in the current X-Men universe, or as children of X-Men themselves.
NEWSARAMA : People are anxious to know the cast in this series. Can you tell us any more about the charcters?
CC : I can name a few but can't go in to too great detail just yet. First we have Kid Collosus, who readers might recognise as Peter's child from the savage land. Then we have Poker, who's the daughter of Rogue and Gambit. She has complete control over magnetic objects and fields. The series will also be starring an older Franklin Richards from Fantastic 4, as he joins the X-Men in their adventure.
NRAMA : How else does this universe differ from the regular X-Men universe and the universe seen in X-Men:The End?
CC : The Genext world is a lot darker and edgier. The original X-Men were nearly all killed during an invasion and most of the humans on the Earth were massacred. The mutants only survived when Magneto formed an uneasy aliance with the Shiar and the Saurids, ruling the earth together. The new X-Men team must get together to free Storm, the leader of the rebelion, from Magneto's castle where she has been forced to be his Queen.

Who are the children of the X-Men? And what happened to the original team, Professor X and Magneto after over 30 years of conflict, victories, and tragedies? Chris Claremont answers all in the Fans choice from Marvel.coms Claremonts Next X-Men Project poll.
32 PGS./Rated T+ $2.99Claremonts second X-related project came as a suprise last week when Marvel informed us that he will take over as regular writer of the series Exiles, joining penciler Paul Pelletier as the regular creative team with Julys issue #84.
NRAMA : What changes have you made to the core line up of the book?
CC : There are many changes in store for the Exiles cast. I can't reveal the lineup just yet but I can say that from the get go, Blink and Psylocke have found that their powers have changed. Their powers have swapped over completely. I felt this gave their characters more potential and made them both fresh and different again. Me and Joe have even been in talks about creating a one off special in a few years to explain how their powers were swapped.
NRAMA : How many issues have you planned so far for your run?
CC : My first six issues are plotted. The first Arc will take place in space, on a Shiar planet over run by Dinosaurs. I think one of the key things missing from the series so far, and possibly one of the reasons for its low sale figures, is the lack of space stories and dinosaurs. These two factors are key to making any kind of epic story within the X-Men universe. Some times the whole mutant/human problem, played up over the past years, seems to almost overlook the real issue behind X-Men, of Mutant/Alien conflict.
NRAMA : Tell us about this new "Queen Storm" series that you are writing.
CC : I'm so glad that Marvel gave me the oppurtunity to announce this series myself. The "Queen Storm" series has been my own personal baby for a while and I can't believe that I've actually been allowed to make it. It's an ongoing Marvel Knights series, set outside of continuity which we've dubbed a "Dominated-Erotic-Journey". Each week a different marvel villain will capture Storm and dominate her and attempt to force her to be their queen. Storm has to use all of her skills and her indomitable will power to overcome them and to beat them.NRAMA : What kind of stories will be in store for this series?
CC : Well, the first issue is more of a setup issue featuring the Red Skull. It will really give the readers a chance to see what the series will be like. Our second issue is where the action will really heat up, begining a 3 Part story titled "So Speaks Galactus"
NRAMA : If readers are only going to buy one X-Men comic, why should it be this one?
CC : The most remarkable thing about this series is that I've even been alowed to write my own cameo. Yes, issue 8 will see me taking the role of the villain, attempting to force Storm to my will and dominate her. Readers will actually be able to see their favourite writer in the comic that they're reading. What more of a reason could people need to buy it?
