    TEASING 52 #1

You may not be getting to the comic shop for a little while today, so consider this your teaser trailer, and incentive for high-tailing it to the store as soon as you can. DC has provided Newsarama with an inside peek at a handful of key panels from this week's 52 #1, showing the tone, as well as some of the key characters who will be appearing in the series. Additionally, today Newsarama will be kicking off our 5.2 With Wacker - a weekly chat with 52 editor Steve Wacker about that week's issue, the creators, the characters, the DC Universe, and anything else the weekly series touches upon.

And of course, readers will have the opportunity to ask Wacker questions during the run.

Look for the inaugural edition of our chats with Wacker later today. In the meantime…

Booster Gold da re lucrador hdp. Ya no le interesa nada más que facturar. No me pareció nada gracioso, mas bien patético.

    Question rockea. "Are you ready?".

    Black Adam: Hardcore!!!

Steel, como durante la muerte de Superman, se hace cargo.

    Pobre Ralph.

    El resto, todavia poco.

    5.2 ABOUT 52 #1

    And away we go.

As promised earlier, not only does today see the kickoff to DC's 52, it also sees the kickoff of "5.2 About 52" with series editor Steve Wacker.

Every week, Steve will stop by for a quick Q, A and T. That would be, answers to five questions, and two teases about the next issue of 52 (the ".2"). We're starting off today with pretty straight forward questions about the first issue's story, but as we go, we'll be hitting him up about the production side of things, his writers, artists, and both headaches and triumphs he encounters as he tries to manage a weekly comic book series for a year. As we move along, we'll also be looking for questions from readers, so feel free to post them here. Although, please note, posting a question does no mean it will be asked.

So - with a hearty Spoilers ahead! it's time to get this baby rolling…

Newsarama: First, since timing is of supreme importance with 52 let's start with the easiest - the issue begins on "Week 1, Day 1." Where are we, relative to the final moments of Infinite Crisis? A few days after the final battles between the heroes and villains? More? Less?

Steve Wacker: It starts one day after the end of Infinite Crisis. The world is still a little shaky, feeling the aftershocks of the worldwide Crisis, and wondering if the worst has passed.

NRAMA: Given the short time period between the end of Crisis and the time we first see him on Day 5, Booster Gold is back to being happy go lucky and sponsored out the wazoo. How did Booster manage to secure all those sponsors, and what's going on with his change in attitude? Is this a reinvention of himself on a grand scale?

SW: Skeets has been working overtime making contact with potential sponsors, some of which Booster has worked with in the past. It's a fast, fast world, what with all the internets.

As for his character, reinvention is exactly what Booster's about. He and his trusty robot know the future, so he's going to give his 80 year old self the best past possible.

Hey! Greg just sent me the final script for 23. Thanks, Greg.

NRAMA: Moving things along - though the ceremony that Booster is leading towards is scheduled for Day 6, no one has seen hide nor hair of Batman, Superman, or Wonder Woman since the final battle, right? Even for them, isn't a disappearance kind of...weird?

SW: Nah. To the regular man-and-woman-on -the-street, these heroes disappear all the time to save the universe. I would think it would take a week or two for anyone to notice they haven't bee sighted and even more time for people to actually go as far as think they've "disappeared".

Booster's expecting all three of them at the Superboy memorial this week though, so they shouldn't be gone that long.

NRAMA: A quick rundown of the major characters - issue #1 introduced them all to us, but give us the inside view of where they are, stream of consciousness wise...just a few words to explain their state of mind...

SW: Wow, what a sneaky way to go past the allotted 5.2 questions…

    NRAMA: Pretty clever, huh?

SW: Now that is a separate question…

    Okay…

Elongated Man - Still devastated by the loss of his wife.

Renee Montoya - She's got a major problem. She's a drunk. And not a cute, Red-Bull-and-Vodka, "Hey, Let's order McDonald's Drive thru in a Limousine!!" kind of fun drunk. She's angry, ornery and mean. The death of her partner sent her over the edge and she's there to stay...until she gets her Green Lantern ring.

    NRAMA: Wha?

SW: I'm kidding!! I'm kidding! Please tell Rucka, I'm kidding.

    Please.

Okay - back on track -

Steel - A hero through and through. People were in trouble, he helped. End of story. One thing he prides himself on though, is that he's a self-made man. He's not a guy who believes in shortcuts.

Booster Gold - Still preparing to become the greatest hero ever. He's armed with the knowledge of the future and is as sure as he's ever been. It'll most likely be an easy year for him.

Go out and pick up some issues of his old series while you're picking up 52 this week.

The Question - "Do not conquer the world with force, force only causes resistance. Years of misery follow a great victory." Lao Tze

NRAMA: Ho-kay. Booster' s serious faux pas at the ceremony of introducing heroes that weren't there. Everything for him, up until that point was based on his historical record, as he's from the future. Can you explain, without citing Stephen Hawking, why the past Booster and Skeets (well, mostly Skeets) remembers isn't the past that's happening?

SW: Answer 1 - Yeah, sure. Here's the whole freakin' plot for every issue!! No need to buy the book! Get outta here, ya troll!!

    {ahem} Answer 2 - See Infinite Crisis #1-#7.

NRAMA: Okay Steve - your turn two teases for #2…or more…we really don't count.

SW: Good thing I don't either. Here's four:

There are clues literally on every page of every issue.

I think colorist Alex Sinclair hates me by now, but he's doing the best work of his career.

My old friend Jonah Hex appears in the issue.

Did you know Sue Dibny's maiden name was "DEARBON" not "DEARBORN"? Thanks, Mark Waid...you &%$#* freak of nature. Check back next week for more 5.2 About 52. In the meantime, click below to discuss, or click here to ask a question for Steve's next installment.
