In Tokyo this morning, the press was invited to a media briefing where Sony Computer Entertainment Japan and Sony Home Electronics revealed a brand new console dubbed, PSX. The PSX is pretty much a redesigned Playstation 2, but with other capabilities such as a hard drive, DVD recording, and TV broadcast and satellite tuner.
The unit will have a 120 GB hard drive along with an Ethernet port built in. The DVD drive will have Re-Write capabilities and will be able to read Playstation I/II videogames. When the gamer wants to play videogames, the controllers will be plugged into the back of the unit and we are unaware where the memory stick will be inserted. We could not tell if it will be inserted into the rear or front. Although, the unit does have USB 2.0 capabilities.

Pricing details were not revealed, but we can expect this unit to be set at a very high price. North America and Europe will receive this unit sometime in 2004 and later this year for Japan.
