Nació bajo el nombre de Joscelyn Eve Stoker el 11 de abril de 1987, en Inglaterra. Su estilo es el Soul y R&B.
Compositora, modelo (fue cara de Gap) y también actriz, vendió más de diez millones de álbumes en todo el mundo.
Su talento fue reconocido por la industria discográfica estadounidense e inglesa con dos premios Brit Awards y un Grammy. Algunos la comparan con Janes Joplin, ella recibe con una sonrisa la noticia ya que es una de sus artistas admiradas.
Joss Stone se dio a conocer al concursar en el programa Star for a Night (estrella por una noche) en el año 2002. Más tarde, en 2003, Betty Wright la ayudó a crear un disco que fue todo un éxito mundial, titulado "The Soul Sessions". En el disco también colaboraron en la parte de la producción Angie Stone y el grupo The Roots.
A pesar de su juventud decidió encarrilarse dentro de un estilo muy adulto que se puede situar en la línea del neo soul de otros artistas como Jill Scott o Nikka Costa.
Comenzó a irrumpir en el panorama musical con la versión del tema de The White Stipes "Fell in Love with a Boy" al que continuaron otros éxitos como “Super Duper Love”, “You Had Me” y “Right To Be Wrong” entre otros.
Colaboró además en los álbumes de Elton John , Carlos Santana y Herbie Hancock, al igual que en bandas sonoras como las de "Alfie" (junto a Mick Jagger) y "Chicken little" donde canta junto a Patti Labelle el éxito "Stir it up”.
Participó en los más importante eventos de los últimos años: Band Aid 20 Live 8, Live Earth y el Homenaje a la Princesa Diana.
